Aura & Earn

Aura is XO's social reputation and rewards system. Users earn Aura by being authentically active on XO — chatting, matching, posting, gifting — and convert that activity into on-chain XOXO token rewards each season.

It is XO's answer to "Chat2Earn done right": no farming loops, no bot-friendly point systems, no off-chain IOUs. Just Proof of Social Liveness — verifiable on-chain evidence that real humans are having real conversations.

How It Works

Activity on XO → Aura points → Tier & Cohort Ranking → Weekly Season → XOXO claim
  1. Earn: every meaningful action in the XO app adds Aura points; antisocial behaviour deducts them. See Aura Earn Events.
  2. Rank: users compete in cohorts within each weekly season. Higher rank = larger share of the reward pool.
  3. Settle: at the end of each season, results are bundled into a Merkle Tree and the root is committed on-chain (Solana). Settlement is verifiable end-to-end.
  4. Claim: users connect a wallet on aura.xoxo.space and claim their season XOXO with a Merkle proof. Claims are pull-based — the user signs and pays gas; the protocol never custodies user rewards.

Tiers

Aura has 7 tiers, each unlocking in-app benefits:

TierNameBenefits
0Background NPC
1Social NPCVisibility boost
2Seen-Zoned TraineeDaily likes +5
3Vibe CaptainFree Super Like / week
4Flirt StrategistRead receipts, ad-free
5Aura UnlockedPriority matching
6Aura Unlocked SAll of the above, max tier

Tiers are recalculated each season — Aura is earned, not bought, and decays if the user goes silent.

Why On-Chain

Most "Web3 social" reward systems are spreadsheets with extra steps — operators can edit anyone's score before payout. Aura's settlement uses a public Merkle root on Solana:

  • The full per-user reward dataset is hashed and committed; the root is immutable once on-chain.
  • Users can independently verify their reward against the committed root using their Merkle proof (see Advanced Verification in the Aura web app).
  • This makes the algorithm and outcomes auditable by anyone — see the live Proof of Social Liveness dashboard on Dune.

FAQ

What is Aura on XO?
Aura is XO's social reputation and rewards system. Users earn Aura by being authentically active on XO — chatting, matching, posting, gifting — and convert that activity into on-chain XOXO token rewards each weekly season. It is the system through which the protocol distributes XOXO to real users.
How do I earn Aura?
Aura accrues from positive in-app actions: daily login, login streaks, message sent / replied, valid chat sessions, match success, new friends, posts created, gifts sent, super likes, and premium purchases (VIP subscription, no-ads, private key, unlocks). Antisocial behaviour — being blocked, reported, or ghosting — deducts Aura.
How are XOXO rewards distributed?
At the end of each weekly season: (1) your Aura is summed across all events in the season window; (2) you are placed in a cohort and ranked; (3) your rank determines your share of the cohort's reward pool; (4) results are bundled into a Merkle Tree and the root is committed on Solana; (5) you claim from aura.xoxo.space/rewards with your wallet.
How do I claim my XOXO rewards?
Visit aura.xoxo.space, sign in with Google, connect a Solana wallet, and select a ready season to claim. Claims are pull-based — you sign and pay your own gas; the protocol never custodies user rewards. Each season has a claim window after settlement; expired seasons cannot be claimed.
What are the Aura tiers?
Aura has 7 tiers earned per season: Background NPC (no perks), Social NPC (visibility boost), Seen-Zoned Trainee (daily likes +5), Vibe Captain (free Super Like / week), Flirt Strategist (read receipts, ad-free), Aura Unlocked (priority matching), and Aura Unlocked S (top tier). Tiers reset each season — Aura is earned, not bought.
Can users in the United States claim XOXO?
No. Due to regulatory restrictions, users in the United States cannot claim XOXO tokens via Aura. The web app blocks the claim flow for US users.
How can I verify the Aura distribution is fair?
Every settlement commits a Merkle root on-chain (Solana), so once committed no one — including XO — can alter who gets what. Users can verify their own reward against the committed root using their Merkle proof (Advanced Verification in the Aura web app). Aggregate distributions are tracked publicly on the Dune dashboard at dune.com/xoprotocol/xo-aura-proof-of-social-liveness.
