XO Whitepaper

Overview

Introduction

Despite the prevalence of SNS, 79% of Gen Z feel lonely. Current apps fail to help them connect deeply.

At XO, we are pioneering the use cases of AI and Web3 in SocialFi to facilitate deeper human connections. On our mobile app, users often treat it as a safe space to vent emotions, talk about struggles, or share interests to match with like-minded people — all while maintaining anonymity with avatar-based identity.

We believe everyone deserves to feel heard and understood. Our goal is to create a community where people find genuine connections and support, a safe and welcoming space where they can express themselves freely without fear of judgment.

FAQ

What is XO?
XO is an anonymous dating and social app built around content-first matchmaking (you match on what people post, not their photos), an in-chat AI called ROO that helps real conversations actually happen, and an on-chain reward system (Aura) that distributes XOXO tokens to authentically active users. The app has 1.5M+ downloads, generates 7M+ swipes and 1M+ matches monthly, and 82% of users come from organic / referral.
Is XO a dating app or a social app?
Both. Many XO users use it as a safe space to vent emotions, share interests, and find like-minded friends without the performance pressure of profile-photo-first dating apps. Users keep avatar-based anonymity and only reveal more as conversations deepen. Around 70% of users identify as LGBTQ+ and use private channels for community support.
Is XO a Web3 app? What's the on-chain part?
XO is a mobile-first consumer app with optional Web3 infrastructure. Most users never interact with crypto directly. The on-chain parts are: (1) the XOUL Proof of Personhood SBT for identity verification, (2) the XOXO token for in-app actions and rewards, and (3) the Aura reward system, which settles weekly via Merkle roots committed on Solana so distributions are publicly auditable.
How does XO make money?
Three revenue streams: B2C subscriptions (~$30/month for VIP), in-app purchases (Super Likes, profile unlocks, private channel access), and ad impressions. A separate B2B product uses ROO to power conversational ads and opinion-mining for brands engaging XO's monthly users.
What is the XO Protocol?
The XO Protocol is a public API layer exposing the platform's identity verification (Proof of Personhood), reputation scoring (Aura tiers), and compatibility scoring to third-party apps and AI agents — without leaking personal data. Partner apps can plug in 'Login with XO' and verify user trust scores in a single REST call. See protocol.xoxo.space for docs.
